Foi a segunda maior concentração de mão de obra humana da história. A primeira foi a pirâmide de Gize. Uma história de vidas, mortes, milagres e degradação do ser humano diante da ambição. Barrando I e Barranco II (Hillside I & Hillside II)

These works portray one of the most striking episodes in Brazil’s recent history.

During the 1980s, thousands of men from across the country traveled to the state of Pará and dug into steep hillsides in search of gold, creating a vast open-pit mine that reached depths of nearly 300 meters.

It became one of the largest concentrations of human labor ever recorded, often compared to the workforce involved in the construction of the ancient pyramids.

This is a story of hope, hardship, life, death, miracles, and the degradation of the human condition in the face of ambition. Today, the immense excavation has been transformed into a lake approximately 300 meters deep, standing as a silent monument to a remarkable and tragic chapter of Brazilian history.
