Gabriel Lima
Nasceu na bucólica cidade fluminense Porciúcula-Rj onde cresceu na fazenda com sua família materna.
Aos 11 anos se mudou para a cidade, aos 13 anos tinha seu próprio programa de rádio e assim interagia com toda comunidade. Aos 16 anos teve seu primeiro encontro com as artes plásticas em uma visita a seu pai na região da Toscana na Itália.
Esta soma de experiências na comunicação e na apreciação das artes somadas as referências lúdicas da fazenda conceberam sua expressão artística.
A busca por brasilidade através de suas pesquisas, laboratóriios e imersões pelo bucólico, pelas idiossincrasias, pelo ancestral e pelo literal é a que direciona seus percursos de pesquisas e de experimentos que resultam em obras que propõem de forma intrínseca a comunicação entre o artista e o espectador.
Propõe o encontro das pessoas com elas mesmas ao buscar sentido em seus elementos, movimentos e cores, conduzindo a interpretação a uma cena pessoal propondo a experiência para além do visual, para o subjetivo do contexto.
Além da estética, suas obras são engajadas com as questões sociais que vão “rasgar o século”, como diz o artista.
Na sua linha de pensamento observa que é impossível olhar para a brasilidade sem que isso seja um olhar político, seja levantando alguma questão ou apontando casos como do garimpo de Serra Pelada e consequências sociais do aquecimento global. Em suas exposições trouxe questões sobre a extinção de espécias de animais dos povos originários entre outras.
Seu trabalho de campo também segue o rastro da literatura modernista brasileira que o fez estar em experimento em lugares como sertão mineiro, sítios arqueológicos, Villa Boa de Goiás, comunidades indígenas e quilombolas, imersões que o fazem perceber o ambiente e a dinâmica social e assim conceber com sua análise sociocultural a síntese do contexto a ser narrado, trazendo em suas obras o subjetivo, o que tem por trás dos olhos de quem compartilha da abordagem em questão.

He was born in the bucolic town of Porciúncula, in the state of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where he grew up on a farm alongside his mother's family.
At the age of 11, he moved to the city, and by 13 he was hosting his own radio program, engaging with the entire local community. At 16, he had his first encounter with the visual arts while visiting his father in the Tuscany region of Italy.
The combination of these experiences in communication and artistic appreciation, together with the playful references of rural life, shaped his artistic expression.
His pursuit of Brazilian identity through research, experimentation, and immersion into the bucolic, the idiosyncratic, the ancestral, and the literal guides his artistic investigations and creative processes. These explorations result in works that intrinsically propose communication between artist and viewer.
His art invites people to reconnect with themselves by seeking meaning in its elements, movements, and colors, leading interpretation toward a personal narrative and extending the experience beyond the visual realm into the subjective dimensions of context.
Beyond aesthetics, his works engage with the social issues that, in the artist's words, “will tear through the century.”
In his line of thought, it is impossible to contemplate Brazilian identity without adopting a political perspective, whether by raising questions or highlighting situations such as the Serra Pelada gold mining operations and the social consequences of global warming. His exhibitions have also addressed themes including the extinction of animal species and the realities of Indigenous peoples, among others.
His fieldwork follows the trail of Brazilian Modernist literature, leading him to conduct artistic and cultural explorations in places such as the backlands of Minas Gerais, archaeological sites, Cidade de Goiás (formerly Vila Boa de Goiás), Indigenous communities, and Quilombola communities. These immersions allow him to observe environments and social dynamics firsthand, enabling him to develop a sociocultural interpretation of the contexts he seeks to narrate. His works reveal the subjective dimensions that lie behind the eyes of those who share in the experiences and realities he portrays.
